X-Men: The Official Game
It's May and every comic book fan in the world should know what that means.
What's so special? My instincts tell me that with all the experience and talent that developed this game, it will be hard to not please X-Fans. This one might just make up for every bad X-men game out there.
Developer track record: Activision has had a great run with over the past few years with its X-men and other Marvel related franchise games and has been working very closely with 20th Century Fox to get the game just right. Z-axis is somewhat of an untested variable right now and this could be very good or very bad. You might even say that they're this games' X-Factor! Well I thought it was funny.
Yes it's time to start the final count down to the release of X-men 3: The Last Stand on May 26th; the anticipation in the air is so thick that you could cut it with an Adamantium claw!
However to ease the tension, the masters of Marvel Comic's, the always-active Activision and their new studio the zealous Z-axis Games have created X-men: The Official Game (you'd think with all that creative power they would have come up with a fancier name but then again it's better then Wii.)
Now I know what you're all thinking. With the hit or miss reputation of the X-men game franchise what guarantee do we have that this one won't go down in flames? Well I could always point to the recent successes that Activision has enjoyed. Or maybe I should just tell you that the men writing the story for this game are none other then Zak Penn co-writer of X-Men: The Last Stand and the living comic legend Chris Claremont. Oh and the voice talent and the cast of the new movie is one in the same.
The game takes place between the events of the X-Men United and The Last Stand, which will helps us understand the conflicts that will arise in The Last Stand. Unfortunately only three of the X-men will be available as playable characters while the others will appear in the game Ice Man, Night Crawler and Wolverine are the only ones you can use with some exceptions depending what system you buy the game for.
There are twenty-eight playable missions that are interweaving, however there are some character specific missions. One element of the game I am particularly excited about is the specially designed environments that will give each character the ability to use their mutant abilities to their full effect. As Ice Man you'll be able to surf on ice as only he can. Demolish whole buildings as enraged Wolverine and perform line of sight teleportation like the acrobatic Night Crawler.
Prepare to be awed by this highly anticipated Marvel masterpiece available May 16, 2006 and you better hope that you don't run into me if there's only one game left on the shelf cause when it comes to games Wolverine isn't the only one with claws.
